Why hypnotherapy works to Stop Smoking or Vaping in 2 weeks

Hypnotherapy is highly effective in helping people to quit smoking and/or vaping.  By using proven techniques rooted in neuroscience , we directly address the behavioural patterns in our mind that drive the habit.

In the relaxed state of hypnosis,  I can introduce positive affirmations and imagery, such as linking smoking with unpleasant tastes or sensations, or reinforcing the benefits of being smoke-free—like improved health, freedom from addiction, and increased self-control. 


This helps break the automatic thought patterns that drive the urge to smoke.


Hypnotherapy also addresses the psychological triggers that lead to smoking, such as stress, boredom, or social situations. Many  clients talk of the link to being at the pub or after a drink.


 By identifying and re-programming these responses, it reduces cravings and supports long-term behavior change.

Although Vaping was initially presented as a 'safe option' to smoking, unfortunately more and more problems are emerging and cases of severe health impacts, especially with the effects of super-heated vape air on the lungs.

Although Vaping was initially presented as a 'safe option' to smoking, unfortunately more and more problems are emerging and cases of severe health impacts, especially with the effects of super-heated vape air on the lungs.


On a personal level, I have also seen many, many Vapers that have a real dependency on their Vape. And get severe separation anxiety from their vape - they cannot be away from it for more than a few minutes and often vape every 15-20 mins.


Because there is no 'start' or end like a cigarette, on average 3-4 x the amount of nicotine is taken into the body.


This created large dopamine surges, then followed by equally large crashes - known as 'dopamine holes from vaping'. And these over a few months can cause issues with our natural production of dopamine, causing increased anxiety .

Congratulations ! You’ve taken a huge positive move, which is seeking support to give up your smoking habit. Not only will you feel healthier from Day 1, have more control over your life but you'll also be saving around £200 per month [on average]! 


HOW DOES HYPNOTHERAPY FOR SMOKING AND VAPING WORK AT REWIRED  ?


Firstly, I offer a free initial 15 mins phone call. From that, we agree to either meet in person in Guildford, or Epsom, or West London . 

Or via online video call. Stop smoking Online sessions are also highly effective- and often help people to achieve deeper levels of relaxation, as they are in the comfort of their own home.


There are 3 key parts to our work together; generally these all happen over a 2 week period, after which you will be able to proudly call yourself a ‘non-Smoker’.


#1 Initial consultation [c.90 mins] – How our brain works and why we can stop smoking or vaping using hypnosis

The first session is where we talk about why, when and how you smoke, and critically, how the mind works in relation to smoking or vaping. In many ways this is the most important part of the process, as it is this that will stay with you long after these sessions are over. 

During this initial session we will cover off;

- Our brain and how habits and behaviours are formed

- How hypnosis works to stop smoking or stop vaping and why it is successful

- What does smoking and nicotine do to our brain; dopamine ‘holes’ and the link to anxiety

- How your body can ‘repair’ itself from the damage of smoking

- Self-guided relaxation and practicing self-hypnosis with the audio 


We're not just interested in you being free of smoking tomorrow, next week or next month. We are interested in 5 years’ time when you have had a really tough day at work, or you're settling down to your 3rd beer or glass of wine and someone offers you a cigarette! 

It is this understanding that stays with you and is embedded deep in your sub-conscious mind

.

I will send you some info and images before we talk, these might be useful to have with you as print-outs or on another screen [especially if you are using a phone screen for our session]

. 

#2/ Nightly relaxation audio / MP3 – In between our two main sessions, there is a key part of ‘homework’ that helps you and your mind prepare for our hypnosis session and being a non-smoker. 

At the end of our initial consultation, I’ll send you a 25 mins relaxation download to take away and to listen to each night just before going to sleep [usually in bed]. 

This helps you and you mind to become familiar with hypnosis and feeling very, very relaxed – and if built up over c 7 nights, will reinforce this process and the likelihood of success. It deliberately does not mention smoking or any habit; it is about being able to relax your mind and body.


#3  Our 'Quit Smoking' Hypnosis session  - our final session is generally 60-90 mins, of which c 30 minutes will be in hypnosis. This helps you to use your mind in a fundamentally different way in relation to what you want to change and is a perfectly natural state. You still retain control of your thoughts and you cannot be hypnotised to do anything against your will.

Online Stop Vaping or Stop Smoking sessions

If you are online for sessions;


- You will need to be set up in a quiet, private space or room; with the ability to lay back and relax whilst still having your camera on [so I can see your head and shoulders]

- The first part of our session will be a discussion and a review of the reasons why you want to stop smoking or vaping

- The second part will then involve me guiding you into hypnosis

- After we finish, you will feel wide awake, refreshed but also with a strong and clear view of yourself as a non-smoker.

Hypnosis to stop smoking has a greater than 80% success rate. Ensuring that it is successful for you also depends upon removing temptation, especially in the first 2-3 days afterwards.

For this final session, please have ALL of your remaining cigarettes, lighters, ashtrays etc as you will no longer need them and should put them in the bin as our session ends.
