Solution focussed therapy, positive visualisation and hypnosis have a proven track record of supporting the achievement of stretching goals or performing at the highest level. Learn techniques to boost mental fitness and capability
Hypnosis and visualisation are now widely used across all levels of sport.
Whether it is MBA basketball teams , pro-Tour Golfers, England rugby stars honing their kicking or amateur golfers or tennis players improving their mental game, these techniques are now a key part of winning athletes programme.
Training your brain to a winning mindset . Often players focus on the physical side of their sport, on technique and fitness – with the mental side of it left as a footnote. Even at the amateur level though, having that positive mindset- being able to bounce back from defeats or difficult situations- cannot be under estimated.

And at the more elite level, that confidence and mindset can be the difference between victory and defeat
I’ve worked with Emily Orman [England U23 squad] for the past year. She’s part of the London City Lionesses team that were promoted to the Women’s Super League. And the first all-Womens club not affiliated with a mens team, to enter the WSL . With the recent Euro 2025 win, the Women’s game is reaching new heights -read more here
I help athletes at all levels to improve their performance, addressing psychological ‘blocks’ , enhancing their mental conditioning and mindset to;
- Improve particular aspects of their game : specific shots, dealing with high pressure matches etc
- Reducing Stress and negative projections : managing down stress and performance anxiety, both ahead of and during competition.
- Improve focus and keeping in ‘flow’: helping athletes relax & focus during practice and competition.
- Concentration & Goal reinforcement: we work together to define your best hopes and a clear view of goals. By speaking directly into our sub conscious mind, we can then reinforce those goals and the steps to achieve them
- Boost Self-confidence and motivation : Often re-building self-confidence, after defeat or an issue, is a main focus.
- Pain control & body awareness: much of our awareness of pain is governed through our brain’s receptors and we can ‘train’ this reaction and how our sub-conscious mind responds.

Having the mental strength to be able to bounceback from poor form, to realise that you have the strength of mind and focus to get back to winning- is part of wella, with him on that tour. Obviously since then, it’s not been back to back wins- but that is part of the point.

My Sports Experience and Testimonials
Hypnotherapy for Golf
Per the video above and my blog posts, it was recognised back in the 1980’s by the great Jack Nicklaus that ‘Golf is 90% a mental game and 10% physical. Get in touch to learn how my 5-session Golfer’s Mindset package can help you make fast steps forward with your swing, with putting issues and overall focus on the course.
Hypnotherapy for Darts players
Like Golf, the professional tier of Darts is full of players that use hypnosis and visualisation techniques to improve their darts game. I’ve worked with County-level players to learn how to ‘lock in’ when competing, to ignore distractions at the oche and how to progress rapidly through the ranks.
Darts Premier League players such as Stephen Bunting and Luke Littler credit their mental game in their rapid climb and recent successes.
Sports psychology for Professional Footballers
I’ve been lucky enough to work with the England U23 goalkeeper for over 12 months now. And to partner with her to promote the importance of sports psychology and hypnotherapy in performing at the top of the women’s game
Rugby – developing a winning Mindset
Guildford and the Surrey Sports Park is the training base for the mighty Harlequins, home to England internationals such as Alex Dombrandt and Marcus Smith. And that breeds a strong schools and Club rugby circuit, where I have worked with up and coming players to help them develop mental strength in their rugby. For instance, to bounce back from in game set backs and to use visualisation to boost their rugby performance
Competitive ski racing
I’ve worked with a number of amateur ski racers, looking to develop their visualisation techniques . And to build the mental strength needed to be able to perform at the highest levels and in the toughest conditions.
Pain Management and dealing with injuries
Hypnotherapy has a long track record in pain management, reaching back over 20 years when Hypno-Birthing was first introduced. Enabling women to be able to learn to focus their mind, to deeply relax to manage labour contractions and in many cases to give birth with no drugs whatsover.
Sports injury recovery without drugs
Firstly, it is important to note that the recommendations of your Medical Consultant or GP should always be taken first. Clinical hypnosis can be suggested and used as part of a complementary programme of recovery.
By encouraging deep relaxation , hypnotherapy can work to reduce muscle tension around injury sites and helping faster recovery. We can also work with you to enable you to access the subconscious mind and to develop higher pain thresholds.
Blocking out fears of repeat sports injury
Even when the physical scars have healed, sometimes the mental scars remain. This might mean sports people become tentative in pushing the edges of performance like they did before. For fear of repeating an injury, of perhaps a career-threatening problem.
I can help overcome and ‘rewire’ those negative templates and for you to move onto higher levels of performance

The University of Chicago’s psychology lead set up three groups of elite Basketball players. The 1st physically practiced free throws each day. The 2nd group only visualised making the free throws . The 3rd did nothing.
After 30 days, the 1st group improved by +24%, but the second by 23%…
